Trip to italy

Here are some pictures of mine and Johnny's recent trip to Italy.  We had such a great time!  It was hard leaving Drake for so long but luckily we knew Mary was taking great care of him : )
We packed so much into 10 days, but it was worth it!

Nice, France
We flew into Nice and spent a day and night there.

(before we cleaned Drake's slobber off the lens)
These pictures were taken on the bus ride along the Cote d'Azur from Nice to Monaco.

(after we cleaned off Drake's slobber)
Nice at night.

Cinque Terre
We spent 1 night in Monterosso, and 2 nights in Vernazza.
Both were beautiful, as were the other three towns we visited.

This was the beach on Monterosso.  Crazy Johnny got in the freezing cold water, and I admired the interesting naked people.

This is Vernazza.  Our little apartment was almost at the very top, right under the highest orange building.
A fun little court right around the corner from the apartment we stayed in.

I like the narrow hallways.

At night we played checkers - sadly, Johnny beat me every time.

On Sunday we took a quick train ride to La Spezia to the LDS branch.  When the taxi dropped us off outside the building I thought he brought us to the ghetto to die.  Luckily, we got in the building and met four nice missionaries and a good looking older member (if you know of any single 35 - 45 year olds let us know!).  We got to watch a session of conference with them and they were so excited to be getting a temple in Rome!

Riomaggiore
I wish this were my balcony.

Manarola
Vernazza in the evening.

Rome
We spent 2 1/2 days in Rome and saw as much as we could.  This was my favorite place on the trip.

I loved these fountains so much we visited twice.

One of the many painted ceilings in the Vatican.

The Pantheon

St. Peter's Basilica, listening to the Pope with 10,000 other people.

Soooooo many people

Walking along the river.  I love bridges.

From the very top of this building Johnny and I saw all of Rome.
The colosseum is right behind me.

This was easily my favorite site to see.  So much history, it was amazing.

We took a VERY long scooter ride out to Pisa (hence, the bad hair).

Florence
We spent two nights here.  This was Johnny's favorite place to visit.
Here we are on top of the Duomo and had amazing views of all of Florence.

So pretty, I just love love bridges!

Milan
Our last night was spent in Milan.  Here we saw the third largest cathedral in the world, The Last Supper, and walked around the many streets of designer stores.

Here you can see my 17 week pregnant belly.

Johnny Turned 30!

My wonderful husband turned 30 on Tuesday!
I'm so proud of everything he's accomplished so far in his thirty years of life,
and I'm so blessed to be married to such an amazing (old) man : )

We didn't do much to celebrate, just a great dinner with the three of us at Bahama Breeze
& carrot cake at Zuhalans.

The real celebrating starts next week when we go to Italy!
Any recommendations on what to see?

Utah Grass vs PA Grass

In the Trip to Utah blog I added a picture of Drake on the lawn and said he isn't afraid of Utah grass.  Click here to see the video on Drake's blog that shows his reaction to Pennsylvania grass.

Day at the shore

Johnny, Drake and I spent a day in Ocean City, NJ. It was so beautiful, I can't believe we didn't spend the whole summer there.

Here are some pics of Drakie's first time in the Atlantic Ocean.

Cute, look at their matching love handles.

Drake observed the sand for quite a while...
and met a nice down syndrome girl named Emily...

then went crazy and ate the sand.

Visit from the Triggs

In the beginning of September we were lucky to have the Trigg's visit us from Austin, TX.
Coincidentally, they brought little Hanna to Philly during Tropical Storm Hanna.

Scott, Adrienne & Hanna on the steps of the Philadelphia Art Museum
with the city in the background

We had a great time at the Wilmington Blue Rocks baseball game.

For some reason, the Blue Rocks have a Mr. Celery that makes nightly appearances.
Its hair kinda reminds me of Johnny's...

On our way to Constitution Hall and the Liberty Bell -
Before we went out in the rain

After we went out in the rain.
(notice how wet Adrienne is -
a wonderful gentleman drove right next to her and sent gutter water into
her like a tsunami)

Ooooh, cute nakie babies.

They loved bath time.

Thank heavens for an exer-saucer.

One of mine and Johnny's favorite places to take people is the Amish/Mennonite Smörgåsbord, The Shady Maple.
The food is FABULOUS.

Hanna enjoyed donuts and grapes.

Drake enjoyed a little of everything.

Sleepy Babies

Hanna looks like an apparition.

We had such a great time having the Trigg's visit! We hope they come again : )

Pots

Drake loves pots

Ghetto Fab

Drake: "Mom, put this bandanna on my head."
Me: "Why?"
Drake: "I'm aspiring to be a kick-a** biker baby."
Me: "Don't swear and say please."
Drake: "Fine, please put this on my head."
Real conversation.

Trip to Utah

We had a great trip to Utah at the end of August. The weather was great and Drake loved seeing his MonMon. Here are a few pictures.

My chubby-gap-toothed superhero.

He takes this superhero stuff very seriously.

Sunbathing after a long, hard nap.

Utah grass doesn't scare Drake.

Helping water the lawn.

Thanks Hunsaker's for inviting us up for a fun BBQ!

Drake loved the new patio furniture.

...until he fell off of it
