3 weeks old

I can't believe three weeks have already gone by.  I guess thats what happens when you don't sleep - everything becomes a blur and you lose track of the day and time.  Pierce is a happy baby, as long as he is eating, next to a warm body, or sleeping.  However, if he is awake and not doing one of the three, he gets fussy.   Its okay though, cause when he does get fussy Drake rushes to his aid, trying to force a pacifier into his mouth or whack him on the head with a toy car (I'm not sure why he thinks that would make him happy?).  Drake is doing a good job of keeping me on my toes, making sure he isn't allowed to do either if the little guy starts to cry.

A hundred times a day I think to myself, how do women do this and maintain their sanity?  Luckily I have a wonderful husband, cause thats the only way I know I'll be able to do it...

Here are some pictures of my babies.

Drake Update

Here are some pictures from our walk the other day.  Even though there's a new baby in the house, Drake is still my favorite photo subject (obviously).

He loves collecting sticks along the river
and looking for cars and doggies
He insisted on pushing the stroller
And found a love for the taste and texture of tree bark

I may have....

...gotten a little carried away with the cow print.  I just love cows.

10 days old

So far, Pierce has been as pleasant and cuddly a baby as Drake was.  He's also as big of an eater.  He eats all day long, taking short naps to rest his mouth.  At night he is a little bit nicer to me, sleeping for two hour increments, then waking up STARVING.

At the rate he's going, he'll be as big of a chubbers as his brother.

Pierce Hartman Hanna - Day 2

Pierce checked out of the hospital today! He and mom were healthy enough to go home a day early.

Before we were dismissed to leave, Drake and Grandma Jeri came for a visit. Drake hugged and kissed Pierce non-stop. He knows how to work the camera and melt your heart.

Grandma Jeri with Baby Pierce.

A happy family!

Pierce couldn't get rid of his brother all afternoon.

One last nap at the hospital.

New blanket from Grandma and new car seat carrier from Mommy.

New Edition to the House of Hanna's

We want to introduce you all to our new little buddy, Pierce Hartman Hanna.

Paige woke up this morning at 6:00am to see if she could be induced today rather than Wednesday as planned, but they denied her request. She decided to take matters into her own hands and started having heavy contractions about 15 minutes later!

She woke me up and we rushed down the 76 toward the hospital at 8:00am (somehow there wasn't any traffic). Nurses and Doctors were ready for us as Paige had called ahead and 2 hours, 55 minutes, and many more painful contractions later, Pierce was born!

Grandma Jeri Allbee stayed back at home with Drake to make sure he had his crunch berries and jue (juice).

All is well as Pierce is being fed at this moment and mom is healthy and happy with her new little guy.

Here is a little background on the name. Pierce was a suggestion from Grandma Mary and she deserves the credit. I made the mistake of telling her we liked it about 1 month ago and she ended up sending me about 5 emails of other names that she liked.

Hartman Hunsaker was the first of the Hunsakers (Paige's ancestors) to come to America. He left Switzerland in the 1600's and landed in Philadelphia, where he traveled inland a little eastward and settled in a town 15 minutes from where we are living. We are hoping to find a grave site or some town history on him. We thought it'd be a great way to remember our experience out here and show our gratitude for Paige's 7th great grandfather, for whom Pierce wouldn't be around if it weren't for him!

Our new little baby!

Drake was really cute and seemed happy to see his new brother.

38 weeks

After going through a tour of the Maternity Ward at Bryn Mawr Hospital, I can't decide if I want to have this baby, or if its a lot better with him in my belly.  Being in the delivery room took me back 17 months to Drake's birth, and all I can think now is, why did I want to go through all that again, so soon?

From the side

Oh yeah, now I remember.  I get another one of these little guys, who will smile, giggle, and in a year kiss me and call me Mamma.

Warm Day

Yesterday was 75 degrees and sunny, a perfect day for Johnny and Drake to walk along the river.   Here are a few pictures of their little stroll.

Are you kidding?

I've been uploading some family videos and came across this one.  It was Valentines Day 2007, and this was the present I gave Johnny.

As goofy as he is, he still makes me laugh every time I see it.

Painting

For the last few months I've been getting together with an art group, learning to use acrylic paints.  Here's my first attempt...

...

We got a new camera a week ago to take some great pictures of our little family and the beautiful area we live in.  (Or rather, Johnny finally gave in and let me get the camera I've been dreaming about foooorever.)  That would explain the many recent pictures of my Drakie.  I've also been attending some photography classes with two wonderful woman in order to learn how to use this new monster.  Hope you enjoy the new images as much as I do!

New Outfit

I know, I know, my blogs are getting progressively more boring and are 99% about Drake.  I promise, when I am no longer looking like a cow and am able to get out of the house a bit, and have another little child, the blogs will get pretty exciting.  If you can handle it.

Drake got some new outfits from Grandma Mary.  Here he is in one of them, posing for me.  His prop of choice, a syringe full of saline.  Is he simple minded, or so deep I have yet to comprehend his intelligence?

Looking outside to see if doggies are coming

Look at all those teeth!

Happy Valentines

Today for Valentines Day, Johnny took me to see my favorite things.

First stop was the Jersey Shore to see the ocean.  I love the ocean.

You could see New York City from the beach

Next stop was NYC.  We got some dinner at a fun cafe, where Drake liked to challenge his food to a staring contest before devouring it.

After dinner, we went to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, my favorite NYC museum.   Drake also loved it and preferred to observe on his own.

We had to drive by the Empire State Building, being Valentines Day, and see the red lights on top.  We considered going to the top and re-enacting the end of Sleepless in Seattle, but Drake refused to play the part of Jonah.

Finally, we got my favorite yogurt from Red Mango before heading home.

It was very thoughtful of Johnny and we had a great day!

Some pictures

Drake loves playing in the cooler and wearing hats.
He hates socks unless he has shoes on.
We finally got a good snow!
