In August, Johnny's little sister Melyssa was getting married in Whitefish, Montana. An amazingly beautiful little resort town (reminded me a lot of Park City).
The conversation went something like this:
me: "There is absolutely no way we are driving up to Montana with all five kids."
Johnny: "It won't be that bad! I'll do all the packing and take care of the older four, you just need to worry about the baby."
me: "Yeah right. No way."
Two weeks later, after Johnny packed absolutely nothing for the kids, we took the whole family to the wedding. It was one of the best family trips EVER! I'll give Johnny credit for being right on this one and pushing this trip on me, it was totally worth it.
We broke the trip up into two days and a million stops. You can see Banks wasn't happy to get back into the car after each stop.
As soon as we pulled into town, we dropped our bags off at the condo we rented and headed straight to the wedding rehearsal and dinner.
Johnny and Scott dressed as twinners, cuuuute!
The boys were so happy to see their cousins, Hayden and William.
The next day we took the tram up the mountain with the family and hiked around the top.
Confession, I have a stripe addiction.
That evening we loaded all the boys in the car in their undies, headed to the wedding, and dressed them and did their hair in the parking lot. I kept five boys in white shirts clean for a good hour! Pretty proud of myself.
The boys and all of their cousins got to walk down the aisle before Melyssa.
After the beautiful ceremony we gathered all the different families to take family pictures before kids got dirty, or lost, or both.
This crazy had a little too much to drink at the reception and got caught taking a few swipes of frosting out of the grooms cake.
Bubba danced for 3 hour straight. While we were waiting for the car to come around after the reception, 7 girls from a bachelorette party walked by. Here's what happened:
Bubba: "I'm a dantha ya know."
Girls: "Oh, you're a dancer?"
Bubba: "I mean, I can danth for you if you want me to."
Girls: "Ok, let's se some moves!"
Bubba, with no music, breaks out into dance.
Girls: "That was so great! Good job!"
Bubba: "Thankth, evewyone ith going to know me."
After a night of partying at the wedding, we woke up the next morning and headed to a random LDS church to give Romney a baby blessing. We bombarded the church with all of our family.
After church we went to the house that a lot of the Hanna's were staying in and had some lunch. Mike, Johnny's brother, is a master BBQer and made, as Drake put it, some delicious meats. Drake wanted to take Hayden for a walk in his wheelchair to show him some cool old cars on the property. I thought it was so sweet!
We went for a Sunday drive up to Glacier National Park so Johnny could show me where he drove a motorcycle 7 years ago. I couldn't believe the color and clarity of the water! It was remarkable and magnificent (trying to broaden my use of adjectives).
Johnny convinced me to take a hike with all of the boys and it went pretty well, as long as he carried two of them for three miles.
"Put your arms around each other and smile!
Wait, don't look so depressed...."
I am still in shock that we were able to drive 12 hours up and back with five kids, keep them clean, fed, rested, and happy. I told Johnny that if we could do this, we could easily have another baby!
