After almost 6 years of complaining that Johnny isn't romantic, he proved me wrong.
He has been traveling more this year than ever and, with a three crazy boys at home and being pregnant, it was taking its toll.
He had been gone for a week, spending a few days in Arizona, and then California, and I was an emotional wreck. I knew the conferences he'd been at were some of the most time demanding, but it still didn't keep me from whining to him "If you looooved me you would caaaalll meeee." Yes, I'm rude and cry a lot when I'm pregnant and tired.
This was on Thursday.
The next day, Friday, I had planned on attending a women's conference in the afternoon with my sister, lined up a babysitter, and was thrilled to get a little break before Johnny got home later that night.
At two in the afternoon he called and told me to pack a bag for and overnight trip and to head up to Salt Lake at three.
I left at three and Johnny called to give me a bit more info. He first told me, in his most excited voice, "We're spending the night in Ogden!" to which I just laughed for a while. He then told me to drive to the airport and park. When I got there he said, "We're going to Cancun!!....juuuust kidding." and then I laughed some more.
He told me I was on the 5:00 flight to meet up with him in Las Vegas and an hour later I was riding down the escalator to baggage claim to find him.
Amongst the limo drivers with their signs I saw my hubby holding an iPad sign with my name on it, from the Absent Husband Corp. It was so cute.
We took a taxi into town, dropped our bags at our hotel and headed out for Sushi!
We then went to Cirque de Soleil show Ka and even though Johnny slept through some of it, and the person sitting next to him was the stinkiest man ever, we had a great time.
The next morning we were picked up by a limo (my first limo ride ever!) and taken to the airport where we were hopping on a helicopter to take us out to the Grand Canyon.
Johnny kept saying this was all very Bachelorette of him and I couldn't bring myself to correct him. If he wants to be The Bachelorette instead of The Bachelor then it's fine with me.
The helicopter tour took us around Las Vegas, the Hoover Dam, and stopped in the Grand Canyon where we had some food and took pictures.
We came back into the city, flew over the strip, and were back at the airport by noon.
It was amazing!
After getting back we grabbed some lunch - I picked the PBR Grill as a tribute to my mom - walked around the city, and flew home.
We were back to our 3 happy boys by 8:30 where much tickling, chasing, and chaos ensued.
I'm very grateful for the one on one time Johnny planned for us before another baby boy joins us in a few weeks, it was wonderful!
