August started with a trip to the splash pad at Riverwoods. Drake didn't like the water in his face, but Bubba couldn't have had a better time. He loves him some splash pad.
Our garden exploded! We didn't know what to do with everything, so we ate fresh salsa all summer and gave the neighbors everything else. I think I'll attempt canning this year.
We planted a white peach tree and, although these are tiny peaches, they are the best fruit I've ever eaten!
We thought we'd try our hand at remodeling a rental home. Not quite sure what we were thinking. Johnny spent every free evening and weekend here, but I think all of the demolition and manly labor was therapeutic for him.
I found this 1960's print under the third layer of wallpaper in one of the bedrooms. I loooooved it, but it had to go :(
Chip break by the pool, and the only thing from Pinterest I've started and finished! (Well, Johnny started and finished, but I told him what to do...)
We couldn't let things get too easy around here, you know, with one boy starting school and one going into preschool. Seemed like a good time to mix things up again and add a fifth baby!
This strawberry pie is a perfect example of Bubba's love for strawberries.
He had them cleared out in no time.
An overnight getaway to Park City for our 7th anniversary and couple of outdoor summer concerts for date nights!
My mom's side of the family has been going to Utah's Shakespearean Festival in Southern Utah for years, so Johnny and I took a little road trip to join them. We saw a play and played in the family golf tournament.
Johnny woke up the morning of the golf tournament saying he was going to have an amazing game because, even though he plays golf once a year, he feels he is actually a lot better at it than he thinks.
We lost, sorry uncles for Johnny's false hope. (I don't need to apologize because I know how bad I am.)
I took a girls trip to San Francisco with these lovely ladies! Katie, Becky, and I peddled that bike up a big hill, coasted down, then realized we had to push it back up the hill to return it. At least we had a few minutes to see the fat seals.
Hotel room view.
I'm not sure what Katie and I were trying to accomplish with this photo...
Goodbye Fairmont.
After spending the night in SF, we headed to Palo Alto to visit Becky's family and friends. We got to stay at this house, that was heaven on earth.
Right after I got back from California, we took the family up to Montana to Johnny's little sisters' wedding. Bubba danced through the whole reception, taking a break to give me some attitude.
Tried to take a family photo while they were occupied with their ice cream.
Can you tell they are brother and sister?
Friends since high school.
The drive home was hell. I mean, it wasn't thaaat bad, we just decided to take a 6 hour detour through Yellowstone national park (turning a 11 hour drive into forever. I feel like we are still driving back). These photos make the whole thing worth it though.
Looking at these photos from the first day of school make me want to cry. When did they get so big, and why are they so ok with leaving me?
We were still playing soccer at this point. Bubba's enthusiasm shows how he and Drake felt the whole season.
